Object Description
Large female doll with black hair which is rolled up into a bun. She has on a red cap with gold tassel. She also has a metal flower in her hair with a pink button in the center. The dress is all red with a gold and black polka dot belt. Coming off of the center of the belt is a gold, green, and black/white embroidery. There is an orange/lace underskirt with light blue and green embroiderment and the base is lined with more black/white trim. There is lace coming out of the sleeve just past the elbows as well as lace on the chest and neckline. She has blue eyes looking out to the right and red lips and blushed cheeks and the face itself is made of plaster. Her body, arms, and legs are made of plastic. Her legs are hollow and her upper arms are made out of wire. She has black shoes and is set onto a metal base.
Origin
Handmade souvenir from Greece, brough to America by George T. Anton. This individual doll is a part of a collection of twelve others, also in traditional regional costume.
