Object Description
Female doll made out of cloth, plastic, and plaster--her head and legs are cloth and plaster but her arms are plastic. She wears a pink dress with thin bands of different colors (red, yellow, black, blue, green, cream) that take up about half of her skirt. Around her waist she wears a sash made up of red and white ribbons. She has a shawl made out of netting and trimmed with lace, her small apron is of the same materials with the addition of yellow ribbon and her lower sleeves have the same material. On the upper half of her dress has gold down the front of her dress and a combination of beads and sequins mimic jewelry. Her hair is brown and is tied up in a roll that encircles her head and is embellished with a ribbon. Her feet are painted black to indicate that she is wearing shoes and the bottoms of her feet are flat so she is able to stand freely and relatively stably.
Origin
A doll such as this would likely have been displayed in someone's home as a representation of Greek regional costume.
