Object Description
Ashtray with a floral needlepoint design under glass. Possibly intended as a wall decoration. An intricate needlepoint design with a blue and pink flower surrounded by green leaves and orange accent flowers is framed by a round gold metal frame and inset within black base made of a sturdy fabric. The enitre base is encased under concave glass and rimmed with gold metal and two attached cigarette rests.
Origin
Donated by Angeline Kringas along with two other handpainted vases, a needle point astray and handpainted salt shaker. The ceramics appear to be made by the G Maras Co Athens in Greece which produced Neoclassical handpainted greek art. Ashtray appears to also be made in Greece from a company based in Athens.
