Object Description
Round pin accessory for a jacket lapel. the words "PAN-MESSENIAN FEDERATION" "OF AMERICA 1945." are written around the edges in gold tinted lettering on a black band that encircles the outside edges. Inside this is a light blue emblem with the land mass of Messinia in white encircled by two lines. inside the mass is the Greek spelling of "Messinia".

Donated by John Damianos.The Pan-Messenian Federation of America and Canada was founded in 1945 and is a non-for profit organization. It's goal is to preserve language and cultural ties with Greeks abroad as well as help with charitable causes back in Greece itself such as the hospital and fire relief, helping to fund schools, providing relief from earthquakes and other such matters. They also participate in parades and organize festivals and lecture events to help to continue to draw the attention of youths so that they may discover and take pride in their Greek heritage. There is a count of 20 chapters branches that operate mostly in the bigger cities of America and Canada.
