Object Description
An oil painting by Manos Rovithis. The painting depicts an old woman weaving on a loom. The painting is highly textured. The image is matted in a black felt material. The decorative wooden frame is painted gold. There is a metal wire hanger attached to the back of the frame with I bolts. The painting is signed and dated in the bottom right corner "Manos, 1975." Dimensions: 27.937 x 31.937 x 2.5.
Origin
Manos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1927. He died May 11, 1998 at his home in London, Ontario, Canada. He painted Greek seascapes, landscapes, and Greek people. He also painted scenes from Paris, France. Manos attended the Grande Chaumiere Art School in Paris. His work is heavily influenced by his teacher Alfred Dufatrel, an impressionist painter. He exhibited his work throughout Western Europe, Canada, and the United States.
