Rectangular, wood printing block with an etching of a declaration of some sort, likely an advertisement. The writing is all in Greek. There are 6 scenes depicting people doing certain things, like eating dinner at a restaurant, dancing at a club, and playing badmitten. On the bottom of the block is an etching of a ship. Underneath this ship it says "Home Lines Agency Inc." Besides this is a crest which bears the name "National Hellenic American Line".

Donated by John Damianos. The printing block was used in a linotype printing machine. Linotype presses allowed for the casting of entire lines to be printed at a time. Linotype printing was eventually succeeded by lithograph printing and computer typesetting during the 1960's and 1970's. This printing block was used by the Chicago-based, Greek Art Printing Company that was owned and operated by Aristotle Damianos. The Greek Art Printing Company was responsible for the printing of a wide range of materials, including wedding invitations, invoices, flyers, programs, letterhead, etc., for Greek businesses, organizations, institutions, and individuals in the Chicago area, and elsewhere.

National Hellenic American Line was originally a subsidiary of Home Lines of Italy.
The company was taken over by Chandris Lines in 1965 and the name was retained for promotional reasons for a while. This company provided transport for Greek people to and from New York. Home Lines, the parent company, provided such transport for people from many different European countries.
