Origin
John N. Nicholson was a practicing doctor. He donated artifacts to the museum in the 2000s.

BD is a medical technology company that was started in 1897 by Maxwell W. Becton and Fairleigh S. Dickinson in New Jersey. The original name was Becton, Dickinson and Company, but was later shortened to BD in 1899 when they developed their first logo. They are credited with distributing the first modern stethoscope in 1921 and today are a global company.
