Object Description
Set of five orange-pink ceramic cups. They all have handles and feature various designs. On the inside of the cup, there is a brown and red banner pattern which goes around the rim of the cup. On the outside, there is a similar banner around the rim. Underneath this banner is a design which features various animals and flowers in the same color scheme as the banner. The bottom of the cup widens out to form a base on which the cup can stand. There is a meander pattern on this base, which is brown. The handle also has a brown meander pattern. The bottom of the cup gives a description of the cup. It says, "No M.F 113 About 640 B.C. hand-made in Greece by D. Vassilopoulos".
Origin
Not much is known about the artist who crafted this set; D Vassilopoulos. He has a store on eBay where he sells similar items. He operates out of Athens where he specializes in replicas of ancient Greek pottery. This particular set emulates the style of cups that were available in ancient Greece around 640 B.C.
