Gus M. Bilirakis was born to Greek-American parents in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He grew up in Western Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Florida and pursued a law degree from Stetson College of Law. He practiced for about fifteen years before entering politics and ultimately sitting in Congress.
