Biographical Note

The Greek Women’s University Club is a club created by women of Greek heritage who are college graduates. Its goal is to foster Greek culture and reward excellence in the arts and sciences. To this end this organization promotes education and excellence in the arts, literature, and sciences within the Greek Community. 

Since its inception in 1931, this society has awarded women of Greek decent academic scholarships. It has also supported and sponsored art exhibits, art and music competitions and lectures. The organization has also sponsored receptions honoring notable accomplishments by women performers of the arts, authors, physicians, government dignitaries and other outstanding individuals.  

The Greek Women’s University Club also supports worthy causes such as charitable, educational, cultural, civic and philanthropic endeavors. It has also worked to support Greek-American Community Services, The Hellenic Museum, and The Hellenic Foundation. 

Scope and Content Note
The collection contains oral histories and documents relating to the Greek Women's University Club. Photographs, membership records, meeting minutes, and lecture tapes. There are also financial reports and participation reports for various philanthropic endeavors.
