Object Description
This is a watercolor and pencil drawing of the Parthenon. It stands in the center of the piece with trees on either side. The borders of the piece are highly detailed and embellished with small images and traditional Greek architecture. The piece is matted behind a threaded cream background and in a silver frame.
Origin
Clara Bennell donated this watercolor and Pencil drawing of the Parthenon which was done by her husband, Abraham G. Bennell.

The Parthenon is a temple on the Athenian Acropolis in Greece. It is dedicated to the Greek Goddess, Athena, who is the patron of Athens. It was constructed between 447 BC and 438 BC, decoration continued until 432. The Parthenon stands where there was previously another temple dedicated to Athena, which is thought to be destroyed in the Persian Invasion of 480 BC.
